About Maniphesto
My Approach
Validate.
Good edits should highlight and reinforce the parts of your book that are already working well. I’ll show you where your manuscript shines and help you continue to foster your strengths as a writer and storyteller.
Illuminate.
Writing a book is an immersive experience. It can be challenging to view your manuscript with objective(ish) eyes. I’ll illuminate the problems—and solutions—hiding in your work, and help you address them in a way that feels authentic to your voice.
Transform.
When a writer and editor collaborate well, it feels like magic. Together, we can make your work the best and truest version of itself. My goal is always to make your singular voice sing on the page, helping readers receive the story only you can tell—in the way only you can tell it.
I’m an editor with nine years of experience spanning fiction, non-fiction, ad copy, and travel writing.
I’m a constant and varied reader, often rotating through a number of in-progress books on a given day.
My favorite works of fiction are Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry, The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, Butcher’s Crossing by John Williams, and anything by Rachel Kushner.
I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband (and my rescue dog, Hero), but I’m an Angeleno forever at heart.
More About Jennifer
A very critical book review I wrote in third grade. (I’ve adjusted my feedback style since then.)
About the Logo
“Unfortunately I cannot show it to you,” replied the master, “because I burned it in my stove.”
“I'm sorry but I don't believe you,” said Woland. “You can't have done. Manuscripts don't burn.”
